Rise Broadband - How bad can they get?
Rise Broadband works hard to be one of the worst internet service providers in the US. They offer third-world quality and speed while grossly overcharging for service that is often out.
The company that we used as our ISP was bought out by Rise Broadband. Within a month after the buyout, our speeds began decreasing. We should have 10Mbps, and I fully understand that during peak times the speeds may decrease some. However, the best speed we ever see from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM is 3Mbps, and our normal speed is 1-1.5Mbps.
Around 45% of the time we have speeds of less than 1Mbps, which Rise Broadband considers an "outage". We were contacted by a supervisor (Chris) who said that it was something we'd have to live with, as the issue was a capacity problem (yeah, they oversold their system) and there wasn't any plan to increase capacity for at least a year. Even one of the tier 2 support people called our speeds "gross". We're going to dump these leaches in favor of an AT&T hotspot.
It's more expensive, but at least it's reliable and consistent. If you have any other option, anything at all, it would be better than Rise Broadband.
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Monetary Loss: $500.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.
