Rise took over internet america and now the service is horrible

I have not had service 6 of the last 7 days, and each time I called they blamed my router - but I am trained in the IT world and it is NOT my router causing the problem! My router does not assign the WAN IP address/subnet mask/dns server IP address to it's self... Anyone who is even just reasonably familiar with any kind of telecom knows that!

But would they listen? Heck no, it was always that my router's DHCP function was not working - and then later after a few hours it would magically fix itself! HOW ABOUT THAT for a MIRACLE? Then the next day around 2pm it would lose the addressing again and go down by itself... so after 2 techs have been here and tested my system as working correctly it would go down at the same time that day.

The worse part of the story is that after the tech visits they told me that my system was downloading too fast and that they had to throttle it down from the settings that were from Internet America - and they SURE DID - now it is less than 1.75 Mbps download at the best speed (when working)... funny I pay for 15 Mbps though!

Rise Broadband has taken a good dependable connection that I had via Internet America and RUINED IT. I sincerely HATE them. Yes, HATE THEM!

Well, I was down from Thursday until Monday morning (4 more days) - so since Rise took over IA 45 days ago I have had service on 29 days = less than 2 out of every 3 days!

16 days without service this month; so less than half the time it is up...

But of course their billing system perks right along, no issues with it at all! My bill is ready and waiting for me now even though it is not due until after Nov. 1st!!!

Worse customer service ever. Since they bought put Internet America service has gone to ***.

Customer Service lies, always blames the router and then said I lied when I told them I was down 16 in a single month. *** they can not even read their tech notes. On thing I am not is an liar. I wish I had other options for provider I would drop them in a heart beat!

Worse company all the way around.

All my want is your money.

I signed up for a two year contract and was told my fee was locked in for those two years. Last month it went up two dollars amd this month two more. What would happen if I payed two dollars less ever month? As soon as my false contract is up I'm getting oit! DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! I don't understand why companys can't keep a promise. Is it just me or doesn't anyone care about honesty anymore!!

Take over

We were Skybeam customers, never had any issues, home and work. It was our only choice for semi-hi-speed and phone. We got a great package deal when we signed up, so good we had no questions when we opened our business. We were so happy. Then the take over, we had days of no phone, slow and intermittent internet, and now our business, the same. If only we had ATT or Verizon as an option. Oh, and today when I tried to call from my cell, their phone lines were down too!

I heard the company is going bankrupt. They laid off a lot of their top field employees last month in many states to recover some of the millions in loss.

We had the best boss ever. They can't recover and hopefully be taken over.

They cut off their nose to spite their face. The customers now will suffer this loss do to the fact the laid off were the only ones that cared about the company.

Rise Broadband Internet Review

We had Texas Communications in a ranch in Runnels County and on a ranch in Taylor County. When the company was sold, the numerous name changes went by so fast, eventually from Rise to Rhino - and as it did, the new conglomerate based in Colorado lost focus on service. When we started with Texas Communications, I believe they had 3 technicians servicing the 5 or so counties they had customers in. Rhino fired 2 and now they have one guy who is overworked. We paid just under $100 for the fastest service available ($200 for both ranches) and the service would drop down to "dial-up speeds" like we had back in the 1990s on phone lines. Slow speeds coupled with very frequent outtages and difficulty of getting through to someone on their help line (seemingly somewhere in northern Siberia) motivated us to dump Rhino. I purchased a small, portable wifi device from the AT&T store in Abilene, and now have WiFi where ever I go, and the connect speeds are 4 times faster than Rhino was (when Rhino was working at "full speed.) Long story made short, Rhino is "Full Of Bull" and we are very happy with this new portable device from AT&T that has NEVER had an outrage in the 8 months we have been using it.

Don't take care of customers

1st Their phone number is disconnected, the one they post on their website. 2nd My upload speed is .41 and my download speed is 1.19 that is not what I'm paying for. 3rd They really don't care about making it right. 4th I can't call to talk to tech support so therefore I'm paying for unreasonable speeds and can't contact anyone. I would be willing to recant if they would make this right.

Over-subscribe their bandwidth

Download speeds drop below 50Kbs at night. Talked to tech support and the tower I communicate with is over-subscribed and cannot support the bandwidth when many people try to use the internet at night.

I asked the tech support guy to check the bandwidth utilization of the tower and the reply "It is maxed." The provider to Rise Broadband limits the bandwidth of the tower-to-conduit connection. If you perform a speedtest to a "local" test site, the download speed will be greater than 1Mbs and Tech Support then tells you it is your problem (router, ...) but if you redirect to a test site in another state, the download speed drops way below 100Kbs ...

WHICH implies it is not you, but Rise Broadband who is throttling the bandwidth. If I had an alternative option to Rise Broadband (satellite is worse), I would switch tomorrow!

Rise throttles you at certain times and reasons. If you call and order an increase in you speed and data , the speed increase is almost immediate with no reduction in customers or fixes of any kind. In other words you were deliberately being lowered for their benefit.

Frustrated with service

I somehow lost the internet connection and it took well over a week to get back on line. I was shunted from place to place by Rise before someone finally connected me to their "internet specialist" who finally got me up and running - but then I lost my phone connection (also provided by Rise). I am afraid to try to get the phone back on in case I lose the internet connection again. I tried to get advise from their "chat line" but once I got connected, the chat line person never responded to my question. Finding service with Rise is a nightmare.

Horrible service and low speeds

I had this company for 4 years in a row,(because in a rural area you don't have to many options), and then cancel and give the chance to another company, but it doesn't work either, so I go with rise broadband, they told me that it was a new antena and I will get better signal for a faster internet, but now under contract, they never told me I was under contract,whan I call for customer support, no body answer, so now I get a service with shout broadband, and is faster , and customer service is great. I don't care if I have to pay the $250 charge for early cancellation , I just want to get rid of Rise broadband,

Rise Broadband: Your Worst Nightmare

Talk about deja vu! My experience is like so many posters here. Horrible customer service and much slower than advertised internet speed is the norm. You don't get what you pay for at Rise. Worse yet, they recently raised their rates for everyone, even those like me that are under a 2 year price freeze! Told them I was leaving and they insist on charging a $250 termination fee for a contract they broke. That was the last straw as I filed a complaint with the BBB yesterday and ordered service from a new provider. Worst IP service ever with Rise Broadbband! P.S. If wronged by Rise, please file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online. It's your best chance at a resolution.

Terrible Service and even WORSE Customer Service

Last month and again this month our bill was different from before. The difference being $46.90 before to $53.24 now, this is more than a 10% increase monthly. Now that we have incurred this increase the service has been horrible. There are times we have so little internet connection we wait hours for small (5 minutes or less) videos to load to YouTube. I have called on the service numerous times and have been told that they would reset the service or have someone come out and check the dish, etc... Nothing has been done and no one has been sent out. Again today I called, and was told that there had been a pricing increase as well as an additional fee added to the account to cover the increase in service that is being provided. The account rep did not appreciate me laughing at the fact they claim to be providing better service when it has done nothing but get worse. During this same conversation I was transferred to 4 different individuals who told me the same story over and over, the only difference being the last rep said and I quote "If you are unsatisfied with your service, you are welcome to cancel your plan. Would you like me to help you with that cancellation today?" - needless to say I was LIVID... Where I live, I have 1 option for internet and you guessed it, it is Rise Broadband - so now what do I do? There are so many things about this company that makes them easy to hate, I wish I had another option for my location.

Rise Broadband SUCKS!!!

Unfortunately it's the only service available for me. I've called for 10 months about service issues - my plan is 5x1. My download speeds averaged under 2 mgb. Interesting how the service tech advised he saw I started calling in February 2015 but billing department said they only saw complaints for the past 30 days. HORRIBLE COMPANY!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Keep great records if you try to get credit for their underperformance. Next complaint is to the Better Business Bureau. Wish Verizon Fios or AT&T was available in my area.

I have had a problem with my connection since June every time I call in after going through trouble shooting for an hour they tell me someone will call within 72 hours for a tech to come out and look at my equipment they never call and never come out! I called back and a Supervisor told me Rise Broadband wasn't for me and I needed to try a different company I told her she had terrible customer service and she said I'm the one complaining! This company is a joke! their service is terrible! Unfortunately they are the only service we can have because we live in the middle of nowhere!

I have the same problem. I found out you have to call them back because if they need to make any change in our equipment, they won't do it unless they have your authorization.

But, they won't call you to get it. If you have down time, make sure the technician includes that in comments. Otherwise, they won't consider any credits. Unless you're on an grandfathered plan that has unlimited service, then they will NEVER give you a credit unless you upgrade.

If anyone in the Kurten area knows of another provider, please post their name!!!! Too bad you can't give negative stars or even a 1/2 a star!

We only have trouble between 7 to 10 in the evenings. Probably a coincidence with the amount if customers using the same tower. We have had 1500 disconnects in the last 6 months- according to the tech support named chase. The usual rambling about the tower and then He states there must be a bright light near our house scattering the radio waves. I stated that we live in a rural area Then he states that maybe a neighbor is transmitting a signal - like what? I say. Sending out signals trying communicate with aliens??? Come on. This company sucks as much as Digis - who the bought out. Happy to cancel with them tonight when they told me it would be a week before a technician could be dispatched.

I live in the same rural area. It takes 3 min to bring up a webpage and freezes up on streaming.

They are the only ones in the area. If you know of others, please post.

I have called them all. The old saying Some is better than none", well in this case none is better unless you want to pay full service for getting less than half of the speed you signed up for.

We actually dropped dishnetwork and signed up with direct tv which has Internet through century link. No complaints at all. Well worth looking into.

Rise Broadband takes over Digis and then adds FEES!

We started a 2 year contract with Digis in Feb 2015. We then went on vacation and they tell us there is still a $9.95 for the equipment - however, no one told us this when we signed up and asked.

Then, our bill goes from $46.95/month to $47.45 even though we signed a 2 year contract. Even though Rise sent out an email that said rates would not go up!

Called today and they did NOT change our internet fee but they have ADDED a CARRIER Recovery fee! Plus, the same equipment now is $1 more per month.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS SHYSTER!
